Air Quality Concerns: Lahore and Karachi Among World's Most Polluted Cities

Lahore retains its second-place position in the list of the world's most polluted cities, recording an overall Air Quality Index of 395. In response to the hazardous smog situation, the governing authorities have mandated the use of masks throughout Punjab for one week, issuing a formal notification. Simultaneously, Karachi has experienced a significant surge in air pollution, making it the third most polluted city globally. Meanwhile, the title of the world's most polluted city goes to Delhi, the capital of India.

The polluted air has made breathing difficult, leading to an increase in the number of asthma and cough patients in hospitals. Medical experts recommend that respiratory patients take special care, use masks, and stay at home. Additionally, the Meteorological Department forecasts dry weather in most parts of the country today, with cold temperatures in the upper regions. On Tuesday, the weather is expected to remain dry in most areas, while the upper regions will experience cold conditions. There is a chance of fog and smog in the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the morning hours. Over the last 24 hours, most parts of the country experienced dry weather, with the northern regions being cold.
