Centenarian Hajira Bibi Reunites with Family in Mecca Through Special Umrah Trip
In 1947, during the partition of Pakistan and India, Hajra Bibi, a Muslim woman, became separated from her family. After 76 years, she reunited with her Indian family in Makkah. Hajra Bibi's family resides in Kapoor Thala, India. She recalls being separated from her family during the riots in 1947. A few years ago, she received a letter that revealed her sister, Majeed An Bibi, was living in Indian Punjab.
Punjabi Lehar posted a video of herself last year. A few days later, someone traced her family in India, revealing that Hajara Bibi's sister is no longer alive, but her niece Hanifan Bibi Hayat is. Nasir Dhillon informed The Express Tribune that he attempted to meet the two families through the Kartarpur Corridor twice, but the Indian family did not receive permission. Following a suggestion from American-based Sikh Pal Singh Gul, arrangements were made for both families to perform Umrah, leading to a meeting in front of the Kaabatullah.
The two families, who had been acquainted for 76 years, radiated happiness. Hajra Bibi expressed experiencing double joy - one from meeting her niece and family, and the other from witnessing the house of Allah.
