China launched a satellite for advanced ocean environment monitoring into space.

China News Agency reported that China launched the world's first high-precision ocean color observation satellite, designed to monitor the marine environment extensively.

The satellite, which provides large-scale data on water color, temperature, sea ice, sea-suspended solids, islands, and harbors, will continuously and proactively monitor the global marine environment.

Meng Linzhi, the deputy chief engineer of the Earth Observation and Data Center under the China National Peace Administration, stated that the satellite will offer remote sensing services for China's major sea lanes and actively monitor the utilization of fishing resources and incidents of marine pollution.
