Enhanced Security Measures for Chinese Nationals in Pakistan, Focus on CPEC Experts and Investors

The Ministry of Interior, in collaboration with the Chinese ambassador and key Chinese investors in Pakistan, has decided to enhance the robust security measures for Chinese experts working on CPEC, Chinese investors in Pakistan, and other Chinese citizens. The revised Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) now require Chinese experts and investors to personally inform relevant authorities and police stations during their visits, in addition to utilizing bulletproof vehicles. This decision was made during a high-level meeting.

Instruct the chief secretaries of the provinces to enhance security measures, particularly for Chinese residents in KPK and Punjab. Also, request the Chinese ambassador to ensure strict enforcement of security SOPs for Chinese residents. Sources indicate that all Chinese investors residing in rental houses, hotels, etc., must promptly and mandatorily register at the relevant police station in Vishari. Additionally, they should submit the Apnar Nantal Agreement to further strengthen their foolproof security.

According to sources, the federal government has directed the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, the Chief Secretaries of the four provinces, and the Chief Secretaries of GB and Azad Kashmir to convene an urgent meeting at their respective provincial levels. These directives have been communicated to all officers of the police and district administration at the district level. Stay informed and act promptly.

The Additional Secretary of Home informed the Chinese ambassador that Pakistan has ensured the foolproof security of Chinese citizens. They are currently enhancing the prepared Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and welcome any suggestions from the Chinese side to further improve them.
