NEW YORK: The number of civilian deaths in the Gaza Strip, according to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, indicates that there is "clearly wrong" with Israel's military actions against Hamas Palestinian fighters.
Following an attack on October 7 that resulted in the deaths of 1,400 people and the kidnapping of over 240 hostages, Israel has pledged to destroy Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip. Israel has launched a land invasion, imposed a siege, and begun airstrikes against the 2.3 million-person enclave of Gaza.
"When Hamas uses human shields, they violate the law. However, something is obviously wrong when one considers the amount of civilians who died as a result of militry action
According to Palestinian statistics, 10,569 people have died so far, with 40% of them being minors.
Additionally, it is critical to convey to Israel the fact that it is not in its best interests.
