In a town in the US state of Alaska, the sun, which last set on November 18, will now remain below the horizon until the end of January. Residents of this town of 4,000 people will experience 65 days without witnessing the sunrise. On November 18, in this Arctic Circle location, the sun rose at 12:35 PM and set just one hour and 12 minutes later at 1:48 PM. This annual occurrence is known as the polar night, where darkness envelops the town until January 23, 2024.
